In 1979, a group of three pioneers; Ygal Perlman, Betzlel Ambar and Israel Itzkowitz engineered the ‘Quadrillion Cut’. This square shaped diamond consisted of 49 facets that created a 4-arm star effect in the centre of the diamond. Israel Itzkowitz continued to develop and refine this cut until he reached the incredible creation of the princess cut diamond that we know today.

Checking how many chevrons your princess cut diamond has will give you a very good indication of the diamond's light performance.
